Establishing her developed sense of storytelling and musicality early on through years of training as a ballet dancer at the School of American Ballet, as a pianist at the Manhattan School of Music, and later on as a dance major at the La Guardia High School of Music and Art and the Performing Arts, Shira turned her eye towards editing as a film major in college at Boston University. She then went on to cut her teeth at edit houses across New York City before heading to Los Angeles for nearly a decade, where she further cemented herself as a skillfully versatile editor on projects ranging from quirky comedy/dialogue commercials to long form documentary work.
Shira returned to New York City in 2010, continuing her passion in crafting and telling stories with other creative people who like to tell stories. She lives with her husband and two daughters in Brooklyn, NY.
